‘To Infinity And Beyond’ illustrates the history of animation within entertainment, advertising and B2B comms. It provides lots of anedotes and practical examples from Fortune 500 companies (from my 20+ years of running Synima). It shows how the verstaility, creativity and plumeting production cost of animation has been embraced by each sector, but within healthcare (especially mental health support) it’s relatively underexploited. Animation for Healthcare delivered by video has much more of a role to play, especially within mental health support for children and young adults, the very cohort that currently are in such dire need.
I’m pretty evangelical about the role animation can play within healthcare. As the ‘second pandemic’ of presenting problems (addiction, depression, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, anger, self harm, eating disorders) threatens to overwhelm resources, animation offers a cost effective, targetted, solution.
