This podcast is for anyone interested in healthcare communcations. I’ve spent over forty years in film, television and radio. First as an actor, presenter and voice over. Then as an employee of teh BBC within light entertainment. Finally as founder and director of Synima which over twenty years became a global production agency. That work eventually led to my current role as an AI executive producer and consultant, In this podcast I combine my production experience with AI to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming communication, creativity and health.
I became a UKCP-qualified psychotherapist nearly thirty years ago and my interest in the inner life has only grown. My work draws on philosophy, psychology, neurology, nutrition and exercise. These disciplines help me understand the many ways people make sense of their lives and the forces that shape their behaviour.
Working across healthcare and AI has revealed something uncomfortable. AI is becoming a genuine threat to the business of medical communications on several frontiers. The risk is not that AI can replicate human presence. The risk is that it slides into every unattended space. Social media and mobile phones have already created a vacuum. AI is now likely to fill it with avatars, chatbots and personalised feedback. Basically, ‘AI Slop’.
As healthcare professionals, if we do not define our relationship with AI then other forces will decide it for us. This podcast offers a space to think about that honestly. I explore the boundaries between technology and wellbeing and consider what a healthy digital life might look like.
As an executive producer working across AI, healthcare and media, I bring an industry-level perspective on how AI tools are changing production pipelines. From script to screen, I examine workflow automation, synthetic actors, voice cloning, localisation at scale and cost-efficient medical communication strategies.
I look at whether healthcare can be considered an art or a science? How clinicians can communicate the different approaches on offer. I talk about the harms and benefits of artificial intelligence in the healthcare space.
You will gain practical insight into AI video production for healthcare, clearer thinking about the risks and opportunities of generative AI, and a more strategic understanding of how artificial intelligence is reshaping medical communication. Above all, you will develop a more deliberate relationship with technology in a world increasingly shaped by algorithms.
